English Learner Advisory (ELAC)

Olga Venegas
Directora de La Escuela Primaria Jack London

All families and community members are welcome to attend these advisory meetings, which happen at least three times a year and focus on meeting the needs of students who are mastering English while also being exposed to, and learning, another language at home. The Jack London ELAC and POCS ELAC meetings are held simultaneously, as many of our families have students in both schools.

The English-Language Advisory Council (ELAC) provides parents and advocates of English Learners with the opportunity to:
  • learn more about the educational programs offered to their children
  • participate in the process of determining the needs of the school’s English Language Learners
  • provide input and comment on the annual Single Plan for Student Achievement
  • advise the Principal and staff on the English Language Development Program.
