NEW POUSD UPDATE (4/2): All classes suspended for the remainder of the year.
To reduce the spread of COVID 19, Governor Gavin Newsom and State Superintendent Tony Thurmond advised that school classes should be suspended through the remainder of the 2019-20 school year in California. Sonoma County schools are responding to this guidance by working hard to ensure quality learning opportunities for students via distance learning through the end of the 2019-20 school year.

If you are in need of a Chromebook, please contact Ms. Venegas to set up a day and time. It will be a drive-thru process where you fill out the loaner form and then receive a Chromebook for your child. Please, if possible, print and fill out this form prior to arriving for Chromebook pick-up to help the process go smoothly. Thank you.

Dear Jack London Families:
As you know, we are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and making the necessary preparations in case the COVID-19 becomes more prevalent in our community. To date, no student or employee of Piner-Olivet Union School District has tested positive for COVID-19. Information regarding the virus and the efforts to stop the spread are happening quickly. In an effort to be prepared in the case of school closures, here is a link to our district home page with information and resources that your child can use at home in order to continue with their learning.

Support Jack London With The California Healthy Kids Survey
Our Jack London community will be participating in the California Healthy Kids Survey. Your participation is voluntary. It is also very important. The information you provide will help guide district and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, improve student achievement, and reduce health risks that stand as barriers to learning. The survey is given to three different groups: our fifth-grade students, our parents, and our teachers. The student survey will be administered in the next 2 weeks in their classrooms. The parent survey is available on our website beginning on Monday, December 9th. The window will be open for 30 days. We will have tablets available at the Winter Concert if you would like to take the survey at that time.

A Note About Homework
We have created this Homework Handbook so that families know what to anticipate in each grade when it comes to homework. We also want to share our thinking about the purposes of homework, and what families might do to extend activities beyond school.. There is a wealth of research now on the best uses of homework and what is developmentally appropriate for each age group.
Driver Safety Information
In order to avoid conditions that put students and adults at risk, we continue to improve our traffic routines for drop-off and pick-up. Please follow the updated Traffic Procedures for 2019-2020 to provide a safe, efficient drop-off and pick-up for all students and adults. Also, please be patient as all families learn and abide by the new routine. If everyone follows these directions, it will be smoother, faster and safer for all. When people try to do things that save them a minute or two, it usually costs other drivers time and is not safe.
Please do not drop-off or pick-up your child in front of the school or anywhere else along the driveway, except the west side drop-off/pick-up zone.
