Dear Jack London Families:As you know, we are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and making the necessary preparations in case the COVID-19 becomes more prevalent in our community. To date, no student or employee of Piner-Olivet Union School District has tested positive for COVID-19. Information regarding the virus and the efforts to stop the spread are happening quickly. Click here for CDC advice information.
In an effort to be prepared in the case of school closures, here is a link to our district home page with information and resources that your child can use at home in order to continue with their learning. Welcome to Jack London Elementary![]() Our school is committed to providing high-quality education to all of our students. We achieve our goals through a challenging and meaningful curriculum, maintaining high quality teachers and staff, and creating an atmosphere that emphasizes community, communication, and cooperation.
Together, these elements support a safe and engaging learning environment in which all students can excel. For up-to-the-minute information on school news and events, please visit our Facebook page or check the feed on this page. Read the English Learner Advisory Committee bulletin here. Support Jack London With The California Healthy Kids SurveyOur Jack London community will be participating in the California Healthy Kids Survey. Your participation is voluntary. It is also very important. The information you provide will help guide district and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, improve student achievement, and reduce health risks that stand as barriers to learning. The survey is given to three different groups: our fifth-grade students, our parents, and our teachers. The student survey will be administered in the next 2 weeks in their classrooms. The parent survey is available on our website beginning on Monday, December 9th. The window will be open for 30 days. We will have tablets available at the Winter Concert if you would like to take the survey at that time.
Click here to complete the survey. A Note About HomeworkWe have created this Homework Handbook so that families know what to anticipate in each grade when it comes to homework. We also want to share our thinking about the purposes of homework, and what families might do to extend activities beyond school.. There is a wealth of research now on the best uses of homework and what is developmentally appropriate for each age group.
Driver Safety Information![]() In order to avoid conditions that put students and adults at risk, we continue to improve our traffic routines for drop-off and pick-up. Please follow the updated Traffic Procedures for 2019-2020 to provide a safe, efficient drop-off and pick-up for all students and adults. Also, please be patient as all families learn and abide by the new routine. If everyone follows these directions, it will be smoother, faster and safer for all. When people try to do things that save them a minute or two, it usually costs other drivers time and is not safe.
Please do not drop-off or pick-up your child in front of the school or anywhere else along the driveway, except the west side drop-off/pick-up zone. 2019-20 Student and Parent Handbook
![]() The Piner-Olivet Union School District’s Food Service Department is excited to provide parents a convenient, easy and secure online prepayment service, MySchoolBucks, to deposit money into your child’s school meal account at any time. By having money in each child’s account prior to entering the cafeteria, we find the lunch lines move along much faster, so your child has more time to eat and be with friends.
You can create an account by visiting www.myschoolbucks.com For your convenience, if you have an active NutriKids user account, you will be able to use the same credentials to log into MySchoolBucks. My School BucksVertical Divider
