Welcome to Jack London Elementary
NOTE: All POUSD schools will be closed for the remainder of next week, through Friday, October 20. As of this update, all of our school sites are intact but without water or power. We will continue to post information about school re-opening as it becomes available. We know that our community will be rebuilding and we hope to provide support and a safe place for our students. Please follow our Facebook page for updates.
We have set up a community fundraising page, which you can access here:
Our school is committed to providing high-quality education to all of our students. We achieve our goals through a challenging and meaningful curriculum, maintaining high quality teachers and staff, and creating an atmosphere that emphasizes community, communication, and cooperation. Together, these elements support a safe and engaging learning environment in which all students can excel.
For up-to-the-minute information on school news and events, please visit our Facebook page or check the feed on this page.
2017 - 2018 School Calendar and Bell Schedule
We have changes for the 2017 - 2018 School Year Calendar and Bell Schedule. School now starts at 8:20 AM. Students may not be dropped off on school grounds prior to 8:05 AM, unless you have made arrangements with the YMCA or Boys and Girls Club.
Be advised that Wednesdays will have a different end time than the other days of the week. Kindergarten will be released at 12:00 PM. All other students will be released at 12:40 PM.
A Note About Homework
We have created this Homework Handbook so that families know what to anticipate in each grade when it comes to homework. We also want to share our thinking about the purposes of homework, and what families might do to extend activities beyond school.. There is a wealth of research now on the best uses of homework and what is developmentally appropriate for each age group.
School Site Council Meetings
Site Council meetings are currently held on the first Thursday of the month, from 3 pm to 4 pm. We also post our agendas and minutes in the "About" section of this website.
Driver Safety Information
In order to avoid conditions that put students and adults at risk, we continue to improve our traffic routines for drop-off and pick-up. Please follow the updated traffic procedures for 2016 to provide a safe, efficient drop-off and pick-up for all students and adults. Also, please be patient as all families learn and abide by the new routine. If everyone follows these directions, it will be smoother, faster and safer for all. When people try to do things that save them a minute or two, it usually costs other drivers time and is not safe.
Please do not drop-off or pick-up your child in front of the school or anywhere else along the driveway, except the west side drop-off/pick-up zone.

My School Bucks
The Piner-Olivet Union School District’s Food Service Department is excited to provide parents a convenient, easy and secure online prepayment service, MySchoolBucks, to deposit money into your child’s school meal account at any time. By having money in each child’s account prior to entering the cafeteria, we find the lunch lines move along much faster, so your child has more time to eat and be with friends.
You can create an account by visiting www.myschoolbucks.com For your convenience, if you have an active NutriKids user account, you will be able to use the same credentials to log into MySchoolBucks.
